MEMernet: A Kickstarter Card Game, NLE Choppa, and Bart Simpson

Memphis on the internet.

Naw, Mane

Jamal Boddie recently launched a Kickstarter for a brand-new party game called You Can’t Say That: Memphis Mane Edition. “It’s basically the Memphis version of Taboo with hundreds of cards that celebrate the culture and history of our great city in a fun way for your friends and family,” reads a description of the game on Boddie’s YouTube channel.

A player tries to get her teammates to guess Isaac Hayes, for example. But she can’t use words like “Shaft” or “Black Moses.” If she does, the other team can yell, “Naw Mane,” and takes the card and the points from the other team.

“Full of Hatred”

Memphis rapper NLE Choppa told VladTV that Memphis is “full of hatred” in a video posted last week when he was asked about growing up in the city. “It’s one of the most gruesome, unloving cities to be a part of,” he said. “But I just love it so much because I see the potential.”

DJ Paul Talks Lord Infamous’ Death, Gangsta Boo Leaving Da Mafia 6ix

Green beer, Irish cuisine and parties aren’t the only things to look forward to this St. Patty’s Day.

Da Mafia 6ix is releasing their album, Watch What U Wish, on the holiday.

A spin-off of legendary Memphis collective Three 6 Mafia, Da Mafia 6ix was introduced in 2013. At that time, the group consisted of Three 6 Mafia’s original members minus Juicy J.

The line-up has changed since its emergence due to Lord Infamous suffering a fatal heart attack and Gangsta Boo leaving for undisclosed differences. DJ Paul, Koopsta Knicca, and Crunchy Black are the remaining pieces of the puzzle.

DJ Paul spoke to VladTV about Da Mafia 6ix’s formation and the impact Lord Infamous’ death had on the group. He also talked about their upcoming album, Gangsta Boo’s decision to leave Da Mafia 6ix, and Juicy J’s recent statements about retiring

Check out both parts of the interview below.

While out in New York City for NBA All-Star Weekend, Yo Gotti chopped it up with VladTV. During the brief convo, Gotti talked about adjusting to NYC’s winter weather, his Concealed mixtape, and Drake’s surprise release, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Gotti currently has a distribution deal with Epic Records for his CMG imprint. But he still has control over his career, along with the artists on his label. During his interview with VladTV, he spoke about the benefits of being his own boss and not following the guidelines of a record label.

Yo Gotti No Longer Writes Lyrics Before Recording

Yo Gotti is slated to release his highly-anticipated album, The Art of Hustle, pretty soon. And he recently announced his forthcoming mixtape, Concealed, which will serve as an appetizer to the effort.

With two projects on the way, along with an extensive amount of content already out, one could assume a large portion of Gotti’s day is consumed with writing music. But evidently it’s not.

During a recent interview with VladTV, Gotti revealed he no longer writes lyrics down before recording. This is an approach also used by revered lyricists like Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and the late Notorious B.I.G.

Gotti explained by entering the booth without pre-written verses, he’s able to deliver more emotion and convey himself more effectively in songs.
