Wahlburgers Wild Opens at the Pyramid

Fancy a bison burger? Or, perhaps a large bowl of venison chili? Fret no more; chef Paul Wahlberg conjures the spirit of the outdoors with plenty of big game dining options at Wahlburgers Wild in the Bass Pro Pyramid, the chain’s first Tennessee location.

The Wahlburgers brand has had its eye on Memphis for a while, with plans for a Beale Street location scrapped in 2019. The Wahlburgers Wild brand was announced earlier this summer, and officially opened its doors Monday, September 27th.

Diners can expect a few twists on a regular Wahlburgers menu. Owner and chef Paul Wahlberg sticks to many of the flavors and dishes he ate while growing up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, but is hoping to provide a few items unique to Memphis.

“It’s going to be great opportunity for us to show what we can do,” he says, “and give people a chance to try something different.”

Wahlburgers Wild whips up plenty of the brand’s signature dishes, like the Our Burger made with signature Wahl sauce, crispy chicken sandwiches, or spinach and parmesan Wahlbites. But the “Wild” section of the menu contains some gamier tastes, featuring the aforementioned bison burger and venison chili, alongside a venison bratwurst and the venison chili bratwurst. For dessert, drink up with one of the franchise’s thick shakes (alcohol optional).

The restaurant will offer lunch and dinner options every day of the week. According to the Wahlburgers website, the restaurant will be open 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Co-owned by Paul with brothers Mark and Donnie, Wahlburgers has more than 50 locations around the country. The brothers, and the restaurant, were subjects of a ten-season documentary series on A&E that wrapped in 2019.

Wahlburgers to Open at Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid This Summer

Wahlburgers, the casual dining restaurant founded by brothers Mark, Donnie, and Chef Paul Wahlberg — and made popular by the A&E series of the same name — is set to open a Wahlburgers Wild location inside Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid this summer.

The location will be the first Walhburgers to open in the state of Tennessee, as well as the first to be housed in a Bass Pro.

Wahlburgers Wild will include the restaurant’s full menu of burgers, with added “unique wild game menu items … that complement the wilderness lodge theme,” according to the press release. Featured items will include gator bites, venison chili, bison burgers, and venison bratwurst.

The 2,900-square-foot restaurant will offer 130 seats, and its menu, available for lunch and dinner, will be also available as room service to guests at the Pyramid’s Big Cypress Lodge.

From the press release:

“The partnership between Wahlburgers and Bass Pro Shops expands on a cherished friendship between noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris and superstar Mark Wahlberg. Together, the two have repeatedly teamed up to make a positive difference for causes ranging from advancing conservation, honoring military veterans, and supporting disaster relief efforts.”

The release does not give an exact opening date aside from “very soon” and “later this summer.” For updates, visit wahlburgers.com or follow the restaurant on social media.

Announced this morning: Wahlburgers, the burger place run by chef Paul Wahlberg and celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie, will open at 349 Beale this fall.

From the release:

“We recognize just how lucky we are to bring Wahlburgers to Beale Street, the most iconic street in America where legendary artists have performed for decades,” said Mark Wahlberg. “We look forward to opening our doors and contributing in our own way to that rich history.”

Wahlburgers Memphis will boast 6,900 square feet over two floors and feature a wide selection of creative burgers as well as sandwiches, salads, vegetarian options, and home-style side dishes, such as Tater Tots, Mac N’ Cheese with Smoked Bacon, and Alma’s Classic Macaroni Salad. All burgers are made with a proprietary blend of beef, ground fresh, and topped with house-made condiments – 15 in total, including Chef Paul’s signature Wahl sauce, dill pickles, honey-garlic mayo, butternut squash, tomato jam, avocado spread, and more.

At Wahlburgers Memphis, guests will be able to choose to sit down and enjoy full table service, order quick-serve style at the counter, or grab take-out. A full-service bar with wide screen TVs will offer a wide selection of wine and beer, specialty cocktails, and an assortment of adult frappes.

Wahlburgers will occupy the space that was to be Sweetie Pies before that deal went kaput.
