The “Save Bill Day” Campaign

Bill Day, former cartoonist for The Commercial Appeal, is the subject of a fund-raising campaign by cartoon syndicator Daryl Cagle. Day, who has won numerous awards for his work for the Detroit Free Press and the Memphis daily, was laid-off by the CA during one of its many recent down-sizings a few years back.

Day has been making ends meet by working day jobs and drawing cartoons in the evening. His work is widely syndicated but, as Cagle points out, the syndication money isn’t sufficient to pay the bills.

You can read more about the campaign here. Cagle is attempting to raise $35,000, which he says would enable Day to work full-time as a cartoonist for a year.
