First-degree murder charges were officially filed Thursday for three men who shot and killed a man selling his car on Craigslist.
Brandon Vance, 22, Martiness Henderson, 18, and Walter Collins, 18, were indicted on the charges Thursday and are being held without bond.
The three are charged in the death of Larry Wilkins, 37, in March 2013 at 2143 Sycamore Circle in the Sycamore Lake apartments.
Wilkins was selling his 2006 Ford Mustang on Craigslist. Vance, Henderson, and Collins called and texted Wilkins to arrange a meeting with him.
The plan was a ruse to steal the Mustang, according to the Shelby County District Attorney General’s (SCDAG) office. Their plan was for one of them to distract Wilkins while the other two stole the car.
Wilkins was shot multiple times and his car was stolen, according to SCDAG. The vehicle was recovered later and the defendants each gave statements acknowledging their involvement.
Court hearings for the defendants are scheduled in March.
