Throwback Thursday: Playa Fly’s “Write Sum Bump”

Being labeled a legend isn’t something that comes easy, but thanks to an illustrious music catalog, it’s a title Playa Fly has managed to acquire. Hailing from Memphis’ South Parkway neighborhood, Fly played a significant role in the evolution of Memphis rap during the 90’s, and continues to be lauded for his lyrical contributions more than a decade later.

“Write Sum Bump” is one of the songs from Fly that I really enjoy vibing to. The track appeared on his Movin’ On album, and displays the passionate/smooth lyricist reflecting on hardships he experienced coming up. He also conveys how writing about those challenges serves as therapy for him. Take a listen to “Write Sum Bump,” which features fellow South Parkway representative Gangsta Blac, below.
