It was a good night for roundball for the city of Memphis, as the 15th-ranked U of M Tigers trounced 18th-ranked Gonzaga in Spokane and the Grizzlies beat Toronto for their third win in the last four games.
Robert Dozier had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Tyreke Evans had 22 points to lead the Tigers to a surprisingly easy win over the Zags. Memphis led by as many as 28 in the second half, before Gonzaga’s bench led a late surge to cut the lead to 11. But Memphis made its free throws and pulled away again at the end. Recap.
For the Griz, it was O.J. Mayo (16), Hakim Warrick (16), and Mike Conley (15) leading the scoring, as the Griz went to 3-4 under new coach Lionel Hollins. Memphis’ defense held Toronto to an abysmal 29.5 percent from the field and gave the Raptors their sixth straight defeat. More.
