A press release issued earlier today announced that Whole Foods Market is pursuing a second area location in Germantown.
From the release:
GERMANTOWN, Tenn., October 23, 2013 — Whole Foods Market and Cypress Realty Holdings Company, a local development company, are targeting the Poplar Avenue corridor in Germantown for the metro area’s second Whole Foods Market store.
Cypress Realty Holdings Company in conjunction with Ford Jarratt Realty & Development Company has submitted plans to the City of Germantown to develop a freestanding Whole Foods Market. The proposed store will occupy 41,000 square feet on the southeast corner of the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Pete Mitchell Road. The site is on the eastern edge of the Germantown’s Central Business District directly across Poplar Avenue from the Germantown Collection Shopping Center.
The next step in the process is approval at the December 3 meeting of the Germantown Planning Commission. According to the developer, Germantown officials and staff have been very supportive of the project.
If approved at the public meeting on December 3, the project will proceed to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on December 19.
In addition, a Facebook page titled Bring Whole Foods to Germantown was launched to gather support for the project.
