A public memorial “celebration” for Willie Mitchell, the famed bandleader and Hi Records producer who passed away last week at age 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hope Presbyterian Church at 8500 Walnut Grove Road in East Memphis.
The latest word on the event is that soul legend Solomon Burke, among the final artists to work with Mitchell, may perform.
