YIN AND YANG

There have been a number of complaints over the years that rap music has been under-represented at the Beale Street Music Festival. Last year, however, the festival booked rap pioneers Run D.M.C. and it appears the success of that event has led Memphis in May to continue booking popular rap and hip-hop artists. This year, Memphis own Triple-six Mafia, the super-thugs behind the DM-driven hit Sippin On Some Syrup, will be performing on Saturday night. Curiously enough, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the group which gave us such redneck anthems as Sweet Home Alabama, will be playing the stage adjacent to Triple-six. Fly on the Wall would like to suggest that a tent be erected somewhere between the two stages where fans of the two groups can debate the Confederate flag issue.
